In the Beginning . . . Started in 1990 by Joe Giunta (website: http://www.jagiunta.com), it literally was a one man show. As a student at Arizona State University, Joe produced and distributed the issues around campus. Joe put his project on hiatus in late 1993, early 1994, but soon met to be Publisher Bob Nelson (website: http://www.boboratory.com). It turned out that Bob and Joe got along, and Joe offered Bob the name (Anthology) to use for a magazine he wanted to publish. Joe offered to help Bob with editing, and thus began a tremendously fun journey. Joe and Bob launched the new Anthology in 1994, and quickly found alot of interest and some crazy stories, like how they almost burned down the Alwun House in Phoenix at one of their issue release parties, the same night the featured band was attacked by giant cockroaches. The pair quickly set to work expanding the magazine, acquiring a National Distributor, professional printing, and a Much, much, wider readership. They were joined by local author Nick Ozment, who stayed with them for a short time in 1995-1996. As Joe completed hist ASU studies, he was looking to start other businesses, and soon had to hand off his Editorial duties to Sharon Skinner (website: http:www.sharonskinner.com). She would remain the Executive Editor until the magazine went on hiatus in 2005. In 1998, she was joined by Dawn Tarter-Brewton, and Lisa Ambrose as co-editors. Dawn would leave the magazine in 2000, and Lisa in 2004. |
